The Central Texas Science Team is a competitive Science Olympiad team for middle and high school age homeschooled students in Travis and Hays Counties. (We also support a non-competitive elementary school club for those interested in science, yet not ready for a competitive team.)
As part of the nation-wide Science Olympiad program, students compete in applied science events. Topics include earth science, biology, physics, engineering, technology, general knowledge, and much more.
In addition to providing an environment for peer-to-peer learning, parents identify core topics to help the students learn both science-related topics and also time-management, project-management, study skills and technical skills. We also identify networking opportunities and help connect the kids with appropriate professionals in their fields of interest.
We are passionate about helping our students grow for the long-term, in science knowledge and personal management skills, while having fun and exploring exciting science.
Our team management approach centers on the strength of collective wisdom. Everyone, parents and students alike, are invited to participate in any committee and in all planning.
